Oracle Fusion Applications

WHAT IS ORACLE FUSION APPS ?

Let me start with a question how many companies Oracle acquired in last 3 years (2005 to 2008) ?

The answer is 48 as per oracle's website.

Check at Oracle web site http://www.oracle.com/corporate/acquisition.html

What Oracle is doing with these acquired companies ?
Well after lot of debate and going back and forth Oracle finally announced its strategy and it has two offerings.

1) Applications unlimited: Nothing but continuosly provide support to the major products like JD Edwards, Siebel, Peoplesoft, Oracle EBS etc. This strategy maximises the customers investment and prevents them investing again to upgrade to new platform/application.

2) Oracle Fusion Applications: This is the next generation of Oracle enterprise applications combining the best of breed functionality from the applications they have acquired. Oracle fusion apps is not same as Oracle fusion middleware. Oracle fusion middleware is one of the component in fusion series of applications, fusion middleware helps with integration/interfaces and many times pre-requisite for all future oracle upgrade.

Oracle Fusion applications is a next generation application suite from Oracle to cover enterprise business processes.
